Manly Liberty Coming To Mount Pleasant?

Georgia-based National Monument Foundation has proposed to the Patriots Point Development Authority a statue that not only rivals the Statue of Liberty but adds a unique twist,it is a man!Rodney Cook the president of the foundation presented the proposal and at first it's not only shocking, but in another way isn't it about time Mount Pleasant made the world wide map? or are we going to continually be a second cousin to Ole Joe? Mr. Cooks presentation revealed a gold-tinted statue of Liberty-like proportions, with the crown and gown. The statue would face the mouth of Charleston Harbor and Fort Sumter. Cook said there would be an elevator that would transport visitors to an observation area near the crown. At the base of the statue there would be a an interactive museum that would celebrate South Carolina's part in the Revolutionary War and also the civil war. it took a little time but after thinking about it some i am kinda warming to this idea, it isn't everyday you can be close to part of history, and this woulod surely be historic. I am not of the opinion it diminshes the Statue of Liberty in anyway, the statue is a co statue to the lady, hence the male figure, and honestly the Charleston area has been a major part of the whole United States a lot more than New York. So in actuality we would just be getting what is due to our area.

I believe we have two roads, one is to get behind Mr. Cook full force and let's make history, then reap all the tourism dollars that come in from the world. The other is we can just say no,like always. Then go back to our little backyards, sit on our porches and complain that the city is raising taxes again. This time i think i would like to be part of history.
