here are some recent pictures taken of the construction of the new Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park. Recently this area has been in the news as the Ginn Co. has proposed to build a 36 acre commerical area known as Bridgeside. The proposal will include retail shops, Hotels, restaurants,condominiums and a river walkway open to the public.
The park is situated near the base of the new bridge between Charleston and Mount Pleasant. Close by to the park is the towering condo development called The Tides. nearby are several hotels including the Holiday Inn, and even the Charleston Harbor Hilton is within walking distance. The new park could be a great shot in the arm for Mount Pleasant tourism as it is set to offer fishing and other activities. The fishing pier is slated to be one of the longest in the southeaster United States. The Charleston South Carolina tourism traffic is quite larger than most give credit. This addition to the lowcountrys attractions only enhances the tourists time spent here and in the process local residients have a quite nice place to take their families.
As you can see they have a ways to go before the scheduled opening July 4th 2009
